You must be the change that you wish to see in the world.

To start to understand the Feldenkrais® Method one must experience it. The method can be explored either in a guided class setting called 'Awareness Through Movement' lesson or through 'Functional Integration'; a one on one, hands on method. The learning process is ongoing and is unique to the individual. Through time, one gets a better understanding of the method and the endless possibilities it creates.
Our past experiences, upbringing as well as injuries influence how we carry ourselves through space. Some of the patterns and habits that we've developed may limit us from moving as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Imagine how a baby learns to move. The movement is process oriented and is about exploring how to use its body and its environment to get what it wants, or where it wants. It's all about experimenting and trial and error.
The Feldenkrais® Method lessons are just that, experimenting with our habits and patterns, breaking them down into small, controlled, slow movements, to better understand how the body can move more efficiently and effectively. The importance lies on the attention brought to these movements so that the differences in the sensations and its effect on the body can really be noticed.
Through the Feldenkrais® method we begin observing and recognizing our patterns and habits, choosing to explore other options. Movement becomes clearer and easier, and through this the thought process improves; awareness is gained. With this awareness, we learn, which in turn leads to growth.
